Creating Feel Good Spaces

Our physical surroundings are extensions of ourselves.  In more cases than you may realize, people can look at the interior of your home and know exactly what is going on in your life at that particular point in time. The way we arrange our places, the shapes and colors of our decorations, and the art work we display are unconscious depictions of our state of mind and overall mental and emotional disposition. The outer living space is a mirror of the inner workings of the mind.What has been a rather common habit of gathering things no longer needed is becoming an epidemic. More and more people find themselves imprisoned by cluttering which, according to experts, has deep psychological and emotional roots. There is an underlying Universal principle which explains that there is a life-force energy connecting all material and non-material existence. When this energy flow is blocked, we are not aligned with life’s fullest potential.In this process, I specialize in identifying areas in the client’s space which are particularly visually and energetically “stressed”. I correct this stress by moving things around and/or establishing (with the client) a better use of the items within the space – or perhaps even recycling whatever doesn’t belong in the space. In addition, I do a full review of the area’s design and layout, providing color correction and/or enhancement if needed. The job begins with the de-cluttering process, which is highly beneficial not only in terms of freeing up space and organizing the environment, but also in shifting into higher states of consciousness and functioning. When we begin to address the cluttering, we free up energy vital for living in the “now.”Cluttering is a very serious issue and people can get addicted to it. According to Mike Nelson, author of “Stop Clutter from Stealing Your Life,” cluttering is often a manifestation of issues like ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), OCD (Obsessive- Compulsive Disorder), anxiety or depressive tendencies we have. As Margaret Paul, Ph.D. explains, “Clutter is created and maintained by a wounded, frightened part of oneself, the wounded self and the part that operates from the illusion of having control over people, events, and outcomes.” She says, “as long as this wounded self is in charge of the decisions, the clutterer will continue to accumulate clutter as a way to provide comfort and the illusion of control over feeling safe, or continue to be messy as a way to resist being controlled.” Paul adds, “Only a loving adult who is tuned in to the guidance provided by a spiritual source and capable of taking loving action in one’s own behalf can create a sense of inner safety.”My service begins with an on-site (residential or commercial) initial consultation whereby we gather the logistical/tactical information and energetic perceptions imprinted on the environment. Based on those observations, I present probable solutions for the adverse conditions that might have been found. I devise a plan which weaves my knowledge of the effects of colors on physical, mental and emotional health, visual imagery and cross-cultural healing elements into a pleasant interior composition. My goal is to induce inner-peace for you… and to create a more harmonious atmosphere and ultimately promote health and well being.I am proud to be a student of Feng Shui for over ten years, and as I continue my studies, I find myself increasing every day my respect for it. This ancient art and technique is profoundly complex, and needs to be taken seriously with true respect and real knowledge. During one of the Traditional Chinese School of Feng Shui courses I have attended at The Taoist Society of Rio de Janeiro, my teacher said – at the very first moment of the course – that in order to be considered a Feng Shui specialist, one needs to study for at least twenty years. So, I use some of the knowledge I have acquired with Feng Shui studies, as well as some other earthy healing techniques.  However:What I use the most is my intuitive knowledge of the predominant energy in the environment in which I am called to work.The beneficial effects of art and beauty in our immediate environment have already been proven. The more pleasant our space, the more relaxed we are. Good music, plants, and scents are excellent tools to harmonize our living spaces. To light a scented candle actually happens to be very healthy for the house. I have been researching and beginning to utilize low or nontoxic substances, whenever possible, as healthier alternative materials. There are many people allergic to regular paintings who can really benefit from eco-friendly choices. I am very happy to be able to offer that as well in the scope of my work.
